INSTITUT FÜR SOZIALWISSENSCHAFTEN

Working in Germany

Working in Germany is restricted for non-EU citizens. As a general rule, non-EU citizens enrolled in a Germany university are permitted to work up to 90 full days (full = more than four hours) or 180 half days (half = max. four hours) per calendar year without obtaining a work permit.

Due to restrictions to working rights of non-EU citizens, you will need to have adequate funds to finance your studies prior to beginning the programme.

For specifics on work stipulations for foreign students in Germany, see the following websites from the DAAD:

In the BA programme, an internship is required of all students. There are no restrictions for non-EU citizens when completing an obligatory internship.
