Ontologien: Stand und Entwicklung der Semantik für das World Wide Web Dieser Text befasst sich mit der Bedeutung von Ontologien für die Weiterentwicklung des World Wide Web zu einem Semantischen Web. Dabei wird zunächst die Grundidee des Semantic Web erläutert und dargestellt, wie Ontologien dabei helfen sollen, eine neue Bedeutungsebene zum Internet hinzuzufügen. Anschließend wird die typische Struktur von Ontologien beschrieben. Danach muss die Frage aufgeworfen werden, warum eine Umsetzung der Semantic Web Idee bislang scheiterte. Das Social Semantic Web wird als ein Lösungsansatz für diese Problematik vorgestellt.

This text deals with the significance of ontologies as a means to turn the World Wide Web into a Semantic Web. At first, the underlying idea of the Semantic Web is introduced and we explain the role of ontologies for adding information about meanings to Websites. It is also discussed why the Semantic Web has not yet become reality and how the Social Semantic Web might help to overcome the current difficulties in Semantic Web research.
