Short profile

Constanze Noack has studied Japanese Studies, Sociology and Philosophy at Julius-Maximillians University of Würzburg. During her studies she spend one year at the Chuō University Tōkyō through the exchange program of the Alma Mata. She successfully graduated from Würzburg University in the summer of 2009 with a Master thesis on Men and Masculinity in contemporary Japan.

In April 2010 she enrolled in the Doctoral Program of the Department for Japanese Studies at Heinrich-Heine-University and works there as an Academic Assistant since summer 2011. In her studies the construction and reproduction of contemporary Japanese masculinities play a major role and therefore her main research interest are gender as well as men and masculinity studies with their theoretical principles. Furthermore social change and its effects on the existing gender order and the sociology of knowledge make up her field of research.
