If you aspire to graduate with the academic degree of “Magister” or “Magistra”, you either have to choose one main study programme (Hauptfach) and two supplementary study programmes (Nebenfächer) or two main study programmes. Major subject linguistics (Hauptfach Allgemeine Sprachwissenschaft)
Since the winter term 2004/2005, it is no longer possible for freshmen to take linguistics as a major subject (Hauptfach Allgemeine Sprachwissenschaft). Students are only granted admission to more advanced courses. This means that if you intend to enroll as a freshman in the study programme offerd at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, you can only enroll in a more advanced course (this also applies if you change the subject of your studies at Heinrich Heine University).This presupposes that you are able to evidence sufficient academic credits. The study programme is to be continued until the winter term of 2010/11.
Minor subject linguistics (Nebenfach Allgemeine Sprachwissenschaft)

Minor subject information sciences
Information sciences as a minor subject is being discontinued currently. Since the winter term of 2004/05, freshmen can only be admitted to the 5th term or more advanced term.
